The technical program spans a wide range of topics related to the challenges of managing today's complex IT ecosystems, from guidelines for tools to knowledge sharing and communication, to usability and security. Our goal is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and designers from a range of fields to discuss and advance new approaches to system design and management. In addition to paper presentations (listed below) there will be a poster session, a plenary speech by Stephen R. Barley of Stanford University on IT in the Wild, a panel on automation in management, and a dinner reception. CHIMIT takes place over a day and a half on March 30-31, 2007 at the Marriott Cambridge Hotel in Boston MA, USA. Registration is now open on our website at http://chimit.cs.tufts.edu/ Key Dates: Advance (discount) Registration Ends: February 27, 2007 Web Registration Ends: March 30, 2007 Conference on-site registration: March 30-31, 2007 Paper Presentations (full advance program information is available on the website): Design Guidelines for System Administration Tools - Developed through Ethnographic Field Studies Eben M. Started in 2007, the ACM CHIMIT Symposium is the leading forum for discussing topics on IT management with a focus on people, business, and technology. At CHIMIT, researchers and practitioners share issues, solutions, and research drawing upon fields such as human-computer interaction, human factors, computer systems, and management and service sciences to address cognitive, social, and technical issues in managing the great complexity of modern Information Technology (IT) systems. Original contributions are sought broadly on workplace studies, processes and practices, organizational knowledge, design, experimental studies, tools, and automation approaches for IT management. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to: * Ethnographic studies of IT work in context * Requirements for the design of new technologies * Issues related to new technology adoption * Standards and guidelines of IT management * Approaches to supporting communities of practice * Studies of collaboration and coordination * Knowledge management and training in IT Design of human-centered IT systems * Models of interaction with complex IT systems * Evaluations of system management interfaces * Cognitive issues in complex display design * Studies of decision making for complex problems * Collaborative system administration workspaces * Automation/Policy languages * Human interfaces to automation * Policy-based interaction and control * Agent-based automation and control Mark your calendar!
